This How To Guide explains the process for updating the firmware on the camera module of the IP model HD Multi SeaCam. 


Tools

  • Camera cable with ethernet pinout
  • POE enabled ethernet switch/port
  • Computer (PC/MAC)

Materials

  • Firmware file (link)


Step 1 Download the Firmware Binary File

  • Click the link above in the listed Materials and navigate to the the firmware update file, it will have a .bin extension
  • Download the file 


Step 2 Log into the Camera

  • Consult the quick start guide provided with the camera to get the user name and password for the camera.
  • If your camera uses discreet power, connect the camera to a power source and a network switch shared with the workstation you plan to use to change the camera settings.
  • If your camera uses POE, connect the camera to a POE enabled network switch shared with the workstation you plan to use. 
  • Make sure your camera and workstation are both on the same IP address subnet. The default subnet for the HD Multi SeaCam is 192.168.1.###.
  • Point your browser to the web-based user interface for your camera at htttp://[CAMERA IP ADDRESS]filling in the bracket with the IP address of your camera.
    • The default IP address is 192.168.1.250
  • Enter the username and password for your camera when prompted in order to complete login. 


Step 3 Update the Firmware 

  • Select "Update" from the menu at the left of the page
  • Select "Choose File" from the Update Menu to open a file explorer window. 
  • Navigate to the Update File that was downloaded earlier, select it, and click open. 
  • DO NOT FORGET: Click "Submit" at the top right of the page
  • Once "Submit" is clicked, the page with show a loading bar
  • Allow the camera to update, this may take several minutes. 
  • Once the loading bar is finished, the camera will automatically restart and refresh the page. 
  • Verify that the firmware has changed by viewing the Version Info under the Update menu
  • Power cycle the device and check the firmware Version Info again to be extra certain that the firmware update "stuck"
