This guide covers how to reinstall the camera chassis and close the Nano SeaCam housing.

Tools

  • 2mm flat blade screwdriver
  • Spudger
  • Gloves

Materials

  • Lint free cleaning wipes
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • DC-11, HIVAC grease or similar silicone grease

Step 1 Clean and Prepare the Sealing Surfaces and O-ring

  • With gloved hands, use a lint free wipe and isopropyl alcohol to clean the sealing surface of the housing
  • Inspect the O-ring and confirm that it is free of debris. Remove and clean with isopropyl alcohol if necessary. Replace with a new O-ring if there is any permanent damage or deformation.
  • Apply a light coating of HIVAC grease or similar lubricant to the O-ring. Be sure to only apply a small amount and DO NOT leave any visible globs.
  • Reinstall the O-ring back onto the endcap by sliding it over the front, be sure not to get any grease on the electrical contacts on the board.

Step 2 Place the Camera Chassis in the Housing

  • Locate the "T" symbol on the housing, this is the top of the camera.
  • Looking at the rear of the camera chassis, locate the straight edge of the board, this is the top of the board.
  • Align the top of the board with the top of the housing. With the housing held parallel to the ground, gently insert the chassis, you may need to use a gloved finger to gently rotate the chassis in the housing so that the lens mount seats with the lens stop.
  • Verify that the module is seated in the housing correctly by checking to see if the pins are just below the smaller, inner diameter lip. You can also check the view port to make sure that the lens is all the way forward against the glass.

Step 3 Reinstall Endcap

  • Align the endcap's screws with the corresponding grooves in the housing. Also make sure that the Vin pin on the chassis is aligned with Pad #2 on the endcap board.
  • While maintaining alignment, place the endcap into the housing.
  • Gently rotate the endcap back and forth in the housing while pressing firmly until the two alignment screws fall into their corresponding grooves. NOTE: This is a blind operation and must be done by feel. The alignment is correct when you can push the endcap in all the way.
  • Make sure that the endcap is fully seated in the housing.
  • Install the snap ring using a 2mm flat blade screwdriver or preferably a spudger
  • Verify that the snap ring is fully seated in the retaining groove on the housing
